Adding detail to subdiv meshes

A quick and easy way to add local detail to a mesh suitable for a sub-div surface (MetaNURB, Sub-Patch or whatever you want to call it) using Lightwave 6.5

Select a block of polygons. They don't have to be in a square or rectangular block but it is easier.

sd2.jpg (12221 bytes) Use Smooth Shift (Shift F) and right click without moving the polygons. Then Stretch (h) the selected polygons into the centre. If you don't have a rectangluar block you might have to do some moving around to get rid of any overlapping polygons
sd3.jpg (35702 bytes) Select 2 adjacent polygons in the newly created righ of polygons

Open up Bandsaw and add as many divides as you want. You can even them by hitting uniform if you so desire.
